Cherry Crisp

Cherry season is here and we have lots of cherries that we picked from the trees in the cherry farm. So we decided to make a dessert out of the cherries!

This dessert is very light as compared to a cherry pie or cherry cobbler. It is a perfect dessert for a summer evening.

We usually enjoy this as it is, but it is more delicious with a scoop of our homemade vanilla ice cream.

Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh pitted cherries

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/3 cup melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.

  • Add in the vanilla, egg and sugar to the flour.

  • Mix to form a crumbly mixture.

  • Take a 9''x13'' baking pan, grease it with butter and spread the out cherries in the pan.

  • Sprinkle the flour on top of cherries, not completely covering them, leaving space here and there.

  • Drizzle the melted butter on top of the crisp and bake for 40 minutes at 400ºF.

  • Enjoy warm.

Notes:

  • We used fresh cherries but frozen works well too ,just thaw them beforehand.

  • You can serve this with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream.
